Resources for Students
Find a Job
The Career Center has helpful resources for finding a job on Grounds. Some offices also maintain information and opportunities for student employment on their own websites:
Federal Work-Study (FWS)
Federal Work-Study is a type of financial aid that is earned through student employment. You can determine if you’re eligible and accept your FWS award in SIS. Students can read more about more about Federal Work-Study in the FWS Student Handbook and contact sfs@virginia.edu with questions.
Before You Begin Work
Students who wish to work on Grounds should ensure they have the required federal I-9 identification documents. Identity and employment authorization must be verified within 3 days of starting a position as a student employee.
International students may also have additional requirements for employment on Grounds.
Internships
Internships are a great way to build skills and relevant work experience while completing your degree. The Career Center offers multiple avenues toward internships, including the Internship Placement Program which connects students with multiple internship opportunities based on one application submission.
